Saida Nagaddya from Uganda, used her microloan to become the main breadwinner for her family. She took a small loan to set-up a business selling charcoal just outside her local market, supplying homes and restaurants.

My micro-loan transformed our lives; now my family is safe and our future is secure.

I became a widow when I was 2 months pregnant with our youngest child. We were left with nothing and life was not easy at all. When I found out about the availability of microfinance in my area, I leapt at the chance to become the breadwinner for my family. I took a small loan and set up a charcoal selling business just outside the market, supplying homes and restaurants in my area.

Gradually my business grew and I have been able to pay for all the food and medicines my children need. They all go to school and tell me they want to be doctors, lawyers and engineers. I have also single-handedly paid for our own home to be built. We have just put the roof on and are ready to move in. My micro-loan transformed our lives; now my family is safe and our future is secure.
