My name is Marina. I live near Lake Coatepeque in El Salvador. I make tortillas and pupusas, as well as selling eggs and other staple foods.

My micro-loan has helped me to add a proper kitchen and bathroom to my home

I formed a Trust Bank in 2007 with other local women in my village and we have helped each other to grow our businesses from our micro-loans ever since. My first loan was only £55 but because my business has been successful I was recently able to borrow £385 to grow it even more.

I’ve been able to add a proper kitchen and bathroom to my home. I am actually the treasurer of our group and have had to lead our members through tough times. We’ve really learnt the importance of solidarity and working together as a community.
