Micro-Tyco Mentor: Sir Tom Hunter

In 1998 Sir Tom Hunter sold Sports Division, the business he developed from start-up, for £290m and went on to found private equity partnership West Coast Capital. Sir Tom has also been a long time supporter of enterprise, entrepreneurialism and philanthropy, receiving a knighthood in 2005. Inspired by Carnegie, Tom coined the term “venture philanthropy”, founding the Hunter Foundation and investing circa £50m in tackling issues relating to poverty eradication and educational enablement. He is also co-founder of the Clinton Hunter Development Initiative with former President Bill Clinton, created to develop and deliver a sustainable model for poverty alleviation in Africa.

Sir Tom has championed Micro-Tyco from the beginning and has some wonderful words of wisdom to share with you.
