This month, we welcomed graduates and apprentices from across our partner organisations to the WildHearts Future Talent Summit, bringing together future talent to explore one of the most important skills for career success: navigating change and transition.
The day featured a keynote from Dan Troll (Sales Manager, UK&I Global and Strategic Sales at Hewlett Packard Enterprise), who encouraged attendees to embrace uncertainty, focus on continuous learning, and recognise that everyone experiences transitions differently. Participants were reminded that career paths are rarely linear and that understanding your strengths, values, and motivations can help provide direction during periods of change.
One attendee reflected on the impact of the session, saying:
“I really enjoyed the talk from Dan Troll, I felt it was one of (if not the) most inspiring talks I have ever been to.”
Through interactive discussions, attendees reflected on some of the biggest transitions they have faced, from moving from education into employment to adapting to new teams, projects, managers, and ways of working. A recurring theme was the importance of support systems, with mentoring, networking opportunities, and buddy programmes highlighted as valuable tools for navigating change successfully.
The summit concluded with an Aspirational Leaders Panel featuring Neel Katwa (Hewlett Packard Enterprise), Tash Lewis (Nestlé), Kate Ball (Siemens), and Anya Briggs (Veolia). Sharing insights from their own career journeys, the panellists encouraged attendees to embrace opportunities, ask questions, seek support, and view transitions as opportunities for growth and development.
The panel resonated strongly with attendees, with one participant commenting:
“I really liked that the panellists were at a really aspirational level. Sometimes I find that panels with senior leaders are hard to apply to my own role, but I think the panellists today were pitched at just the right level.”
A key message throughout the day was clear: while change can be challenging, it also creates opportunities to learn, build new connections, and develop both personally and professionally.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions. We look forward to seeing how the lessons and connections from the summit continue to support the next generation of talent.
